I don’t know why…
But I just can’t enjoy fictional writing as much as I love biographies, autobiographies, histories, etc. I don’t know. I’ve been reading The Hobbit and every time I read it, it gets harder for me to pick it back up. It’s just that the story is like 95% a long journey. I don’t even remember what’s going on because it’s so redundant and lugubrious to read.
We’re in the forest on a journey!! Still! Oh! And we’re on this journey… And, wait, where the heck is Gandalf? And some more journey. And OH MY GOD CANNIBALISTIC GIANTS and Hey, there’s Galdalf! And we defeat them and some more journey. And OH MY GOD WHERE THE HELL IS GANDALF AGAIN?! And some more journey. And OH MY GOD GIANT SPIDERS AND STUFF and journey.
Now I love the Lord of the Rings, and J. R. R. Tolkien is fantastically intelligent but this book is like, soooooo boring to read. Sorry, Tolkien =[. I still love you.
